Lavazza For over a century, Lavazza has been the specialist in Italian coffee. Founded by Luigi Lavazza, the company has been a family business through five generations of Lavazzas. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Lavazza came up with the idea of blending coffees to obtain a harmonious and balanced taste in the cup. Thanks to this intuition and through the experience Lavazza has gained over the past 100 years, it is the market leader in Italy and is available in over 60 countried. ESI sells six different espresso blends including a decaf and ships whole bean, ground and in pods. Lavazza also produces a variety of drip coffee blends developed for fine dining and coffee shop use. The newest of these is the Gran Filtro dark roast, a 100% Arabica blend. Most food service products ship in 1 kilo (2.2 pound) bags utilizing the finest packaging in the industry. The bags are foil (light tight) and gas washed (Oxygen free) with a one way valve to allow CO2 to escape after roasting. ESI also sells many Lavazza retail products packaged in vacuum packed bricks and cans.
